Connect Search Console
Search Console tells you what people type into Google before landing on your site, and at which position your pages appear. Siggmund uses it to find the pages already within reach of the first page, the queries where you appear without being clicked, and to sort your fixes by expected gain.
How to do it
- Open Connections in the menu.
- On the Google Search Console card, click Connect Google.
- Choose the Google account that has access to your site, then accept the requested authorisation. It is read-only.
- Siggmund lists the properties of that account and preselects the one matching your site. Check it or pick another, then click Use this property.
A first import starts right away. Once it has succeeded, the card shows "Property saved, first import done".
One consent, two sources
The same Google authorisation covers Search Console and Google Analytics 4. Connecting one authorises both; disconnecting one cuts both.
What Siggmund reads, and what it never does
- It reads your queries, pages, impressions, clicks and positions.
- It changes nothing on your side: access is read-only.
- It does not use your data for advertising or to train AI models.
- The authorisation can be revoked at any time, from Connections or from your Google account.
If it does not work
- "No property found": the chosen Google account has access to no Search Console property. Check that your site's property is added to this account, or reconnect with the right account.
- "Access to verify": the last import failed. Check that your Google account still has access to the property, then click Check access.
- "First import failed": the property is saved, but the first import did not go through. Click Retry import.
- "Connection expired": Google withdrew the access. Click Reconnect Google; the chosen property is kept.
- "Reconnection needed": Google did not return the full authorisation. Remove Siggmund's access in your Google account (myaccount.google.com/permissions), then start again.
- "Connected, nothing to read yet": no data has been imported yet. Click Refresh now.
Disconnecting
The Disconnect button asks for confirmation, because it has three effects:
- the authorisation is removed from your Google account, for Search Console and for Analytics 4;
- the history of data already imported is permanently deleted;
- if you reconnect the account later, the history starts from zero.
